BAGATELLE TO CONTINUE ONE FOR THE ROAD TOUR 2017

Leading International band Bagatelle continue their One For the Road Tour 2017…...

                Not many bands get to enjoy a career in music-and I mean a career as distinct from success.

Success can be fleeting, a career sustains.  Bagatelle is one of those bands lucky enough to have forged a career in music stretching back almost 40 years.

Formed in 1978 they were the first Irish based band to ever sell out the R.D.S. grounds in Dublin, a fact that Liam Reilly, singer and keyboard player with the band is still proud of, and they have shared stage with everyone from Glen Campbell to Bob Marley.

               

 

         The band’s Liam Reilly (L.R.) singer, keyboard player and song writer, and Ken Doyle (K.D.) bass guitar player and vocalist, took the time to answer some questions.

The band formed over 35 years ago, did you expect to be active and continue for so long?

K.D; absolutely not. We started out with no action plan, just a few like minded people who loved music and wanted to play it. Due to a series of happy accidents, here we are 36 years on.

What do you credit the band’s longevity to?

L.R:  Not expecting anything, just hoping that some people would latch on to our songs and enjoy them.

Is it possible in such a long career to select some highlights?

 K.D:-   Sharing a stage with bob Marley in Dalymount Park in 1980. Playing Belfast’s City Hall, Shows in China, Dubai and Saudi Arabia and all the great nights we have had in the company of our special supporters.

Not many bands / musicians will ever get to enjoy a career as prestigious as Bagatelle, would you have any advice for aspiring young musicians?

K.D:- try working on song writing with different people and try not to loose your enjoyment of something that should bring soul satisfaction.

Are you looking forward to returning to the North West?

K.D:-We have had a great love affair with the people in this area since 1980. We love the people, the humour, the architecture, and the food. We have forged great relationships with the city.
