THE GOLDEN YEARS OF COUNTRY MUSIC WITH JIMMY HENDRY

From Cincinnati to Sion Jimmy knocks ‘em out.

Jimmy Hendry introduces his new Golden Years of Country Music Show throughout the leading Theatres in Ireland and the U.K in 2015.

The show is described as a must see and features a range of music from all the top Nashville and American Country music stars. The list is endless and covers the music of George Jones, Merle Haggart, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton etc.

Joining Jimmy on stage is leading female Country singer Sinead Taggart who is a native of Omagh, Co Tyrone.

Jimmy who presently resides in Sion Mills, Co Tyrone,  has spent most of his life in Nashville and Canada in the later years of his music career.

As a highly respected bass guitarist and session musician, Jimmy toured Ireland and Britain with some of Ireland's top entertainers, including Mary Lou & Harvest, Paddy Cole & the Superstars, Brendan Quinn, Philomena Begley, John Mc Nicholl and Nathan Carter. He emigrated  to Canada in the early 80's, where he settled in Ottawa City, where he hooked up with some of Canada's finest musicians.

However it is his talent as a songwriter, which has brought him most attention. One of the highlights of Jimmy's career to date is winning the Socan Song of the Year Award, which was presented, to Jimmy by Gordan Lightfoot on behalf of the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada. The song 'Love Proof Heart' which was co-wrote by Terry Carrisse, one of Canada's most sought-after songwriters, went on to become the most aired song in Canada in 1990/91. This give Jimmy the opportunity to start making frequent trips to Nashville the home of Country Music.

Teaming up with the legendary Pete Wade better known for his guitar playing with Ray Price and many other top names. The duo along with Pig Robbins and Sony Garish went on to play on numerous recordings at the famous Bradley's Barn. On returning to Ireland Hendry formed his own band 'Classic Country'.

To date they have toured with Heather Myles, Bob Wotten, Joanne Cash and the legendary Gene Watson, a tour that was highly successful for both artists. Where Merle Haggard may sing 'the roots of my raisin' run deep', Jimmy Hendry breaths this axiom through his SOUL, his spirit and ultimately his MUSIC.

Hendry is probably one of the best singers ever to come out of Ireland, and along with his excellent backing band, his new production The Golden Years of Country Music is a show not to be missed.
